Alexandra Palace is one of London’s most recognisable cultural landmarks, hosting major live events, festivals, exhibitions and outdoor celebrations, all set against one of the city’s best views. Its website plays a vital role in welcoming visitors, promoting events, and supporting ticket sales across the main venue and several large-scale festivals.

HdK has worked with Alexandra Palace as a long-term digital support partner since 2022.

Alexandra Palace

The challenge

When HdK took over support, the Alexandra Palace website was experiencing challenges around stability, speed and day-to-day usability. The internal team also found some tools difficult to manage, particularly when responding quickly to campaign activity or making content updates during busy periods.

While the initial brief focused on maintaining the existing setup, it quickly became clear that the platform would benefit from proactive improvements. The goal was to make the site more reliable and flexible, without changing its established branding or disrupting live event activity.

Alexandra Palace

The solution

We began with a technical audit to understand the existing setup and identify opportunities to improve performance and usability. Working closely with the Alexandra Palace digital and marketing teams, we delivered a series of targeted development updates designed to strengthen the site behind the scenes while keeping the front-end experience familiar.

Alexandra Palace

The result

The work has helped create a more stable, flexible and manageable digital platform across Alexandra Palace’s ecosystem of sites. The internal team now has greater autonomy to update content, manage campaigns and respond to peak demand during high-traffic periods.

Key outcomes include improved site stability, faster content updates, better accessibility, and clearer control over event listings and ticketing information. HdK continues to provide day-to-day support and development, helping Alexandra Palace remain digitally resilient as one of London’s busiest cultural venues.
