Introducing Our New Web Support Developer – Julian

Hi, I’m Julian Cantera Cornejo, and I’m delighted to join the team.

My career path has been anything but conventional. I spent over seven years as a London tour guide, sharing the city’s history with visitors from around the world. History has always been one of my great passions. While I genuinely enjoyed the work, the constant social interaction eventually pushed me toward a change – one that aligned more closely with a lifelong interest in technology.

In 2018, I transitioned into tech, starting as a software tester. While testing wasn’t the most thrilling work, it provided essential insights into project workflows: client relationships, Agile methodologies, front-end and back-end development, and responsive design principles.

The real turning point came when former colleagues asked for help with their WordPress site. During the pandemic, I seized the opportunity to immerse myself fully – studying, experimenting, breaking websites, fixing them, and occasionally breaking them again – until I discovered a genuine passion for development.

Since then, I’ve worked for various companies and agencies, most recently spending three years at Make Agency as a web developer, working on projects for clients including Addison Lee, Daler Rowney, and Boxpark, among others. I’ve built websites that are both functional and engaging, working independently and collaboratively while continuing to learn and adapt to new technologies (and hoping AI remains a helpful colleague rather than a replacement).

Outside of work, I draw inspiration from history, botany, gaming, cooking, reading, travel, and fitness – pursuits that keep me curious and inform my approach to problem-solving.
