Museum of the Home

We’re proud to have Museum of the Home as a client, but that doesn’t make us biased about this one. It’s one of London’s most under-visited gems. The collections are thoughtful, they run regular community events, and the garden is one of the best-kept secrets in the neighbourhood.

Hoxton Hall

Another HDK client, and another one we’d shout about regardless. Hoxton Hall has survived demolition and various reinventions to become one of east London’s most characterful live events venues.

Peer Gallery

Just down the road, Peer Gallery works with artists, young people, and local communities to produce exhibitions, events, and workshops. Definitely pop in next time you’re in the neighbourhood.

Food

Dal Fiorentino

Freshly baked focaccia, cured meat, good cheese, herbs, olive oil. These might be the best sandwiches in London. Definitely some of the best-priced.

Shades Food Truck

The whole team agrees on this one. Delicious Jamaican food, sold on Hoxton Street. Don’t be put off by the queue, it’s worth the wait.

Sông Quê Café

You can’t talk about Hoxton food without mentioning at least one of the incredible Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Sông Quê is iconic for its bright green exterior, so you can’t miss it if you’re heading up Kingsland Road. 

TROY Cafe

We’ve tried a lot of salad places in London and this is our favourite. You can have a lovely chat with the staff while you wait, and the prices are extremely good value. A small box starts at £5.90, and comes with a free pitta bread and a piece of fruit. Fizz has eaten approximately 200 of these and is not slowing down.

Towpath Cafe

Right on the canal, this is a local favourite for a reason. The setting alone makes it worth the trip, and the food lives up to it.

Coffee

FWD

Technically Shoreditch, but worth the five-minute walk for very good coffee.

Humble Hands Deli

Right next door to the office. A family-run deli that opened recently and has already become a regular stop for the HDK team.

Hoxton Barrel

They do a mean cappuccino, beautiful pizzas, and fresh salads, and are always up for a chat while you escape from the office.

Pubs

Howl at the Moon

Yes, this is the pub where they did a Paul Mescal lookalike competition. Always a good vibe, full of character, and the venue for more than a few HDK socials.

The Macbeth

Hans is particularly fond of this pub. It’s a new addition to Hoxton and a very good one. They also make some tasty plates of food.

The George & Vulture

Lots of outdoor tables make this pub perfect for the sunnier days. They do a range of really good pizzas, and fun fact: apparently it’s the tallest pub in London.

Outside

Hoxton Garden

A community garden tucked away from the main streets. Quieter than you’d expect, and a great spot for lunch when the sun is out.

Regent’s Canal

Sun’s out? Fancy a walk? The canal runs all the way from west to east London, right through Hoxton. We can’t recommend exploring this canal route enough. 

Hoxton Square

Away from the busier streets, though it fills up with office lunch groups on warmer days. Worth exploring the nearby streets of Shoreditch while you’re here.
